have recommended that application should be made to the Minister of Transport for the Sheffield Transport Department to be made an officially designated testing station for motor vehicles under the Road Traffic Act. This would enable employees to test vehicles belonging to the public as well as the corporation fleet.
A5 WIDENING
As part qf the comprehensive improvement of the A5, a contract for the widening of one and a half miles of it, between Witherley, near Atherstone, and the Royal Red Gate Hotel in Warwickshire, has been let to Broderick and Ryan, Ltd., at £105,823. The new carriageway width will be 33 ft. Work is expected to he completed in about six months. The section now to be improved will link with a proposed by-pass for Atherstone.
