Clearways: Local highway authorities in England and Wales have been asked by the Ministry of Transport to consider making suitable lengths of classified roads into clearways. This follows the successful establishment of more than 600 miles of clearways on trunk roads and on roads in the London traffic area.
New Maxima: The Austrian Road Transport Council has announced its support for a recommendation of the Austrian Ministry of Trade under which the total weight of double-tracked goods vehicles in Austria would be raised from 13 to 16 metric tons and new maxima of 2.50 metres width and 3.80 height introduced.
Licences Needed: Road vehicle chassis, sparking plugs and internal combustion engines have been added to the list of commodities for the import of which into Yugoslavia a special licence is needed. At the same time the import of vehicle parts for Yugoslav assembly has been subjected to a duty of 38 per cent., as against 25 per cent. hitherto. The import duty for spare parts for non-Yugoslav road vehicles has been raised from 25 per cent. to 48 per cent.
