The North British Rubber Co., Ltd., have appointed Mr. E. H. R. Schmidt tyre replacement sales manager for U.S. Royal. Mr. Schmidt will work in dose association with Mr. T. A. Bayliss, who has been appointed tyre field sales manager. Both have offices at 204/208 Tottenham Court Road, W.I. Mr. Robert Shaw has been appointed original equipment sales manager, tyre division, in succession to Mr. A. Eaton-Clarke, who has returned to the U.S.

Mr. K. Allender has been appointed area manager, West Wales, of the Western Welsh Omnibus Co., Ltd.

Mr. F. J. A. Shults, Tottenham's cleansing and transport superintendent, has been elected honorary exhibitions organizer for the annual conference of the Institute of Public Cleansing. He succeeds Mr. S. Stephen, director of public cleansing, Luton, now the Institute's senior vice-president. Mr. Shults is chairman of the London centre of the Institute and a member of the general council. Mr. F. B. Hyde, who was far 50 years with the Birfield Group, has retired from Laycock Engineering, Ltd.

Mr. A. Weston, personal assistant to Mr. D. G. Stokes, sales and service director of Leyland Motors Group, has now been appointed to the additional position of sales and service personnel officer. In this post he will deal with the movement of all Group sales and service staff, both in the U.K. and overseas.

Mr. Arthur Hosker, works manager of Leyland Motors' North, South and Farington factories, has now been appointed general works manager of all five Lancashire headquarters factories of the company. Mr. Hosker was appointed production manager in 1951 and has in recent years acted as technical consultant to a number of Leyland's subsidiary and associated factories in Europe. He is also a director of one of these factories.
