• 'Transport ministers of the European Union (formerly the EC) are to continue negotiations for an EU-Swiss road transport agreement.
This will replace individual countries' bilateral agreements for traffic terminating in Switzerland.
Ministers also agreed a road safety plan to reduce the EU's annual toll of 50,000 deaths and 1.5 million serious injuries.
