VIP Exhibitions to launch an all-singing, alldancing roadshow tour of the UK. Now this is what you might call a flash unit. Pulled by a Renault Magnum the Nintendo Challenger has 18 TV screens with Nintendo games machines. The 8m-wide stage area is powered by a hydraulic ram and can take 50 players at a time. To provide the essential sound effects the Challenger has a 16-track Soundcraft Spirit mixing desk, capable of powering 12 amplifiers. The hospitality suite doubles as a living area and includes a microwave, Fridge, sink, video recorder and 1V. The seating area turns into a
7ft bed—no cramped sleeper cab for the driver of this rig.
Just one tiny nigggle, however: Nintendo refers to the unit as a Juggernaut, not the most popular word with transport types. Hooked it up in my dictionary where, to be Fair, it can describe "a large heavy motor vehicle, especially an articulated lorry'. But there is another explanation. Juggernaut originates from the Hindi word Jagannatha, the name of the lord of the world, an idol of Krishnu in Hindu mythology "carried in procession on a huge cart under which devotees are said to have formerly thrown themselves". I suppose it's appropriate enough; video game devotees can be quite fanatical.
