AN extendible. semi-trailer introduced by

Scamrnell Lorries Ltd. in its new Challenger series is designed for operation at up to 30 tons g.v.w. and can be extended in length from 30 ft. 10 in. closed to 45 ft. open (as illustrated), with a main intermediate position at 37 ft. 11 in.

The front section of the trailer has a rolled-steel channel box-frame and this slides on bevelled rubbing pads inside the rear box section. Special locking pins hold the trailer at the required dimensions.

To move the frame from fully closed to fully open, a blanking plate is used to blank out the intermediate position.

Equipment includes seven-core electrical cable and brake pipes on reels, six side marker lamps as well as stop/tail/flasher units, and three-line braking with 20 in. triple-diaphragm chambers and 16.5 in. by 7 in. cam brakes.
