"I DO not know of any more applica 1 dons. We sincerely hope we have now reached the end, as there has been a tremendous drain on my staff attending various public inquiries supporting these applications."

Mr. F. W. Burton, transport manager of Roads Reconstruction, Ltd., made this observation to the Western Licensing Authority on Monday. Witness was supporting an application by Mr. S. G. Gillard, of Hallatrow, and referred to the numerous cases heard during recent months concerning the need for extra vehicles for the Mendip quarrying industry.

Mr. Gillard sought a B licence for a vehicle to carry roadstone, quarrying and building materials within 150 miles. For the past eight years the vehicle had been under contract-A licence with Roads Reconstruction.

Objectors were W. Viney, Ltd., Messrs. E. R. Crew and Messrs. F. W. Whittock. The Authority granted a licence for the transport of quarrying materials and coated aggregate within 150 miles, and other building materials 10 miles.
