TEE first annual meeting of the -Motor Omnibus Peoprietors Assoniation was held at the Queen's Hotel, Cardiff, on Thursday, November 20th. There was a good attendance of membeis from distances so far afield as Gloucester and West Wales. Mr. T. White (of White's Motors), the chairman of the association, :occupied the chair, supported by the executive members and officials.

The secretary gave a review of the work of the organization during its first year of existence and referred to the large number of Ministry appeals which had been lodged on behalf of members, appearances made on their behalf at inquiries, interviews with licensing committees of local authorities, and personal visits paid to members in every district, and further enumerated many instances where the good offices of the association officials had been enlisted to promote a better feeling between rival members on the same route, and to prevent. undue and unfair competition which was theh existing.

The balance sheet. and financial statement for the year's workin,g was fully discussed, explained and adopted. The .request-of several proprietors for admission to membership, which applications

had been held in abeyance for some time, on account of the approach of the end of the financial year, were granted, and the meeting received with pleasure the statement that, with those who would now be admitted as members, the association would include practically every company and proprietor of any standing in the whole of S.W. Wales area.

The secretary reported on the advisability of amending the subscription for membership. Where, as for the past year, a flat rate was in operation irrespective of the number of buses controlled, it was agreed that, for the coming and future years, a moreeequitable system should operate, and the entrance fee was thereupon reduced by two guineas and a further contribution per bas operating with each member -was arranged to be payable.

The question. of a permanent secretary for the association was considered at some length, and views were expressed by the chairman and various members that such a permanent appoint; ment was a necessity and to the best interests of the association. On account of the great services the present secretary had rendered in an honorary capao city during the past year, it was unani

mously agreed to ask Mr. Jenkins to accept the position at a salary agreed upon. Mr. Jenkins promised that he would give his decision at. the next meeting, hut, in the meantime, would carry on the work as before.

The election of officers was then proseeded with and Mr. T. White was reelected to the chairmanship with a complete and general expression of thanks for his assiduous services during the past year. Mr. E. Mountain, of the S.W. Commercial' Motors, was also reelected to the vice-chair with a like expression of thanks. The executive committee, which originally consisted of four members, was increased in number to six.

The association has during the year been successful in retaining the legal services of the eminent solicitor exAlderman J. T'. Richards (ex-Lord Mayor of Cardiff), and he has rendered signal service to the members and has agreed that his services shall still be available to them at all times.

The usual vote of thanks brought to a close a moat successful meeting, one which augurs well for the future of the association and the interests of the members concerned. The offices of the secretary are King's Chambers, Newport, Mon.
