Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Bodywork for the recentlylaunched 7.5-tonne gross weight 8111) Mercedes-Benz T2 chassis cab (CM, July 5) is now corning on to the market.

Light refrigerated vehicle specialist GRP Coo[trucks of Pudsey, Leeds, has developed a low-weight fridge body for the 85kW (114hp) 8111) chassis.

Similar to bodywork already produced by GRP for the Leyland Roadrunner and Freight Rover Sherpa, the T2 fridge body has a one-piece joint-free glass reinforced plastic inner skin, and side valances.

Weight for the GRP Coo[trucks body, with a Hubbard 584 freezer unit fitted, is 1,225kg. This allows a payload of 3.78 tonnes on the 3.7m wheelbase 12 chassis.

The first vehicle to be fitted with the GRP Coo!trucks body will be used by Mercedes-Benz as a demonstrator. Price for the body is £10,100, while the complete vehicle costs £22,700 plus VAT.

For more general freight haulage, Southfields of Loughborough has produced a scaled-down version of its Urbanloada curtainsider specially for the shortwheelbase 811D chassis.

The 3.7m long body has an aluminium frame and alloy roof and planked floor. A rigid aluminium rear bulkhead is also fitted to add strength and further reduce the vehicle's kerb weight.

All the standard features of the larger Urbanloada design are retained, including loadbearing curtains stretched between top and bottom rollers, secured at each end by overcentre catches.

Overall weight for the 3.7m alloy Urbanloada body is just 655kg, which allows a full 4.41 tonne payload on the shortwheelbase 8111) rigid. Price for the 3.7m Urbanloada body is 23,189 plus VAT. A 3.3m body costs 22,964 plus VAT.

If there is some latitude in loading, Southfields can also supply the body with optional rear closures — with a steel, instead of alloy, rear frame — including a fabric flap, full sliding curtain or roller shutter. The floor can also be specified with plywood overlay or timber decking.
