• Edbro, the Boltonbased bodybuilder and tipping gear manufacturer, has increased its 1985/86 profits by 4% to 22.3 million and raised its sales to 220.8 million in the face of a stagnant vehicle market.
The company says its UK sales of bodywork and hydraulic equipment has been restricted by slow sales in rigid chassis and in particular by the marked decline in tipping semitrailers for which Edbro produces tipping gear.
Sales in Continental Europe-handled by Edbro Europa rose noticeably by 44% from 3.9m to 25.6m last year. These activities now represent 27% of a Edbro (Holdings) sales.
However these improvements were largely offset by lower export sales within the UK and in Australia and New Zealand.
