A RECORD turnout at the York LDoY contest saw Chris O'Reilly, the 1969 Lorry Driver of the Year, win class H this week. At York too, the overall winner, P. Mitchell, returned the lowest score at any contest to date. Pte G. Cotton, WRAC attached RCT, was one of four women entrants and took the Ladies' Trophy with 218 penalties.
A bomb at Antrim, happily defused in time, meant that five marshals could not arrive in time and came near to forcing a change of road route, but the event went ahead as planned.
The Cumbria Centre, formed only in April of this year, fielded an entry of 48.
