Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A new company has been formed to market specialized Atkinson heavy commercial vehicles in Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. Bank of England permission had been obtained for Atkinson Lorries (Holdings) Ltd., to make an investment up to £100,000 and arrangements are being finalized with the assistance of the Westminster Bank.

The new company, Atkinson Vehicles (Europe) s.a.-n.v., is situated on the main autoroute linking Antwerp and Brussels. It is also near to several important motorways under construction, including a transcontinental highway now being built between Lisbon and Copenhagen.

Directors of the new Atkinson company are Mr. A. W. Allen, chairman, Atkinson Lorries (Holdings) Ltd.; Mr. P. M. Yates, managing director of the Atkinson Group; Mr. S. Eden-Smith, sales director of Atkin

son Vehicles Ltd.; and Mr. R. Van Pelt, managing director of Euromotor s.a.-n.v.

Initially, two designs are to be produced and these will be for gross vehicle weights of 26 and 38 tons (26,417 and 38,610 kg.). They will be equipped with Rolls-Royce Eagle diesel engines of 220 and 260 bhp, ZF gearboxes and power steering equipment and will incorporate British-made Kirkstall front and rear axle assemblies.

Continental-built, all-steel cabs will be used, incorporating a sleeping berth as optional equipment with high quality furnishings and insulation to Continental specification. Local legislation allows the use of a set back front axle and these will be the first Atkinsons to have this feature.

The new Belgian company will be fully equipped to deal with sales, service and parts inquiries before the end of the year.
