• The Minister of Transport is introducing a new type of push-button controlled pedestrian crossing. to be known as the "Pelican" (PEdestrian Light CONtrolled) to replace the X-Way crossing. The Minister is also delegating to local authorities responsibility for the siting of zebra crossings on their own roads. This delegation will not apply to the new "pelican" crossings or to other types than the zebra crossings.
