Hindle finance director of Serck. Mr. -Upton also becomes chairman of Serck Radiators Ltd. and Serck Tubes Ltd. and Mr. P. Ayers-Hunt has been appointed
director of Serck Tubes. Mr. R. L. Colley, hitherto managing director of Serck Radiator Services Ltd. and Car Plates Ltd., becomes executive chairman on both boards.
Mr. S. G. Errington has been appointed general manager of The Astley Leasing Co. Ltd.
Mr. F. J. Hum n retired this week as managing director of Smiths motor accessory division and is succeeded by Mr. R. G. Cave. Mr. Hum n retains his seat on the main board of S. Smith and Sons (England) Ltd.
Mr. F. R. Tallis and Mr. T. A. F. Pollard have been appointed directors of R. A. Dyson and Co. Ltd., London. Both have had long service with the company as works manager and chief designer respectively.
Mr. V. E. Gough and Mr. S. G. Whitehall, of the Dunlop tyre technical division, are to be presented with the safety award in mechanical engineering this year by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. The award is for a paper on the universal tyre test machine.
Mr. J. W. Thompson has been appointed chief engineer (instruments) for the motor accessory division of S. Smith and Sons (England) Ltd. He succeeds Mr. A. llama, following the latter's appointment to divisional chief engineer earlier this year.
Col. A. L. Work has been appointed a technical adviser on industrial training at the Ministry of Labour. He will take up his duties in October. Col, Work, 54, has been assistant secretary of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers since 1961.
After 43 years with Simms Motor Units Ltd., S. C. (Charlie) Knight retired last week. H. R. Daddow, director and general manager of the company, presented him with a cheque wholly subscribed by Mr. Knight's colleagues.
Mr. W. E. Gillett, general sales manager of Grosvenor Motors (North Wales) Ltd., formerly the Grosvenor Motor Co., retired on July 31 after more than 43 years' service with the company.

Ltd. formed to integrate the activities of Chloride Batteries Ltd., Pritchett and Gold and E.P.S. Co. Ltd., and D.P. Battery Co. Ltd., Mr.C. Pritchett is the vice-chairman and Mr. A.
