last week when the application of A. S. Jones and Co. Ltd. was resumed on the second day of the public inquiry. The company was seeking an A licence for five multi-purpose vehicles (The Commercial Moior, July 26). Mr. J. C. Walsh, representing Cargo Superintendents (London). Ltd., said the company discharged bulk oils from ships and then arranged road transport for its customers. Road haulage facilities were difficult and often delays occurred through lack of suitable tankers,
Mr. Walsh told Mr. J. R. C. SamuelGibbon, objecting for Sutton and Son (St. Helens) Ltd., that the company wanted a steady flow of tankers, as vessels were sometimes delayed up to 24 hours through lack of transport. There was also new traffic from Runcorn. • The evidence of the objectors had still to he heard when the North Western deputy Licensing Authority, Mr. A. H. Jolliffe, adjourned the case.
