A COMPACT washing unit suitable ri& for mobile shops and designed to. meet the requirements of the Hygiene Regulations concerning the selling of food has been introduced by Metal Spinners (Newcastle), Ltd., 'Dunn Street, Newcastle upon Tyne, 4.
It consists of an insulated container of 2-gal. capacity. A top at the base of the container allows water to •flow into an aluminium basin stlspended • by metal straps. The rear strap has a spring clip which, when released, allows the basin to be lifted out. A fixing bracket on the container allows the unit to be attached to a vertical surface.
Hot water is poured into the container through a screw tap. Tests have shown that the unit will keep water at a high temperature for periods of up to 12 hours. In hot weather, the insulated container will maintain water at a low temperature and prevent it from becoming. brackish.
The container is of aluminium with glass-fibre insulation. The whole unit weighs 10 lb. without water, and its overall height (with basin in position) is 2 ft. The water container is 101 in. in diameter. The unit retails. at .approxi
