Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AS a tractor and trailer carrying timber turned a corner, the end of the timber swept the pavement and knocked out a five-year-old boy, it was stated at Hereford City magistrates' court last week. William John Thomas, the driver, of Archenfield, • Madley, denied •driving carelessly in Widernarsh Street, Hereford, on June 5, and his mate, Charle.i David Wyatt, of Coldstonc Cross, Kingstone, pleaded not guilty to aiding and abetting him. Insp. C. W. Wallin, prosecuting, Said when the tractor turned there were several people standing . on the pavement. A particularly tong. piece of timber swept the pavement, and a fiveyear-old boy was struck on the head and fell to the ground. There was no question of speed. Although the lorry had gone on there. was no reason to suppose that Thomas or Wyatt knew 'there had been an Accident. The inspector submitted that Wyatt should have got out of the cab to see the lorry safely round a hazardous corner. Thomas told the magistrates he had driven all kinds of load for 25 years without a conviction. He had headlights and sidelights on, and there was a white flag on the end of the timber. Mr. T. W. Grimmer, chairman, said both cases had been found proved. Thomas' long record of driving without a conviction would be taken into account.

Both menwere fined £5.
