DEVON-BASED agricultural distribution firm TransAg is benefiting from the weak pound as the British public turns to buying local produce as opposed to goods sourced from the eurozone.
Operations manager David Shorthouse says: "Despite the economic downturn, business is pretty good. Local produce is now the same price as if not cheaper than imported European goods, so the British are now buying British. People still need to eat and whenever the economy drops agriculture benefits; when it's up, agriculture fares worse,"
The company has just renewed a significant portion of its 16-strong truck fleet with the purchase of 12 MAN TGS 6x2 rigids. The 26-torners all feature a lifting and steering rear axle for greater manoeuvrability and will be tasked with delivering livestock feeds and various agricultural products to farms across the UK,
