I was astonished to read in such an authoritative journal as yours, Trevor Longcroft's remark (March 5 issue) : "The tipping controls fitted to the heavier Fiats were a refreshing change from the bulky two-lever Systems we are used to. Tipping is air controlled from a small three-switch console.......
Where has Trevor Longcroft been since my company introduced air-shift control from a small two-lever console at the Scottish Motor Show in 1969, a system now fitted to the majority of tippers equipped with Edbro gears? This incidtntally, was followed in 1971 by an air-operated taildoor.
I was interested to note that " Romanazzi have been building three-way tipping systems since the war and their equipment is already well proven in Europe."
My company has been producing three-way itipping equipment and bodies since 1921 but, as Trevor Longcroft implies, the economic market for these designs i obviously very limited. Edbro recognised this in 1931, which is why this company has been so successful in such traditional " three-way " countries in Europa as, for example, Holland where Edbro front-end gears now have 76 per cent of the tipper market.
