TEN new Mercedes-Benz 0303 coach chassis with Jonckheere Bermuda bodies have been put in operation for the summer season by British operator Contiki Tours. They will join 14 0302 models based in Holland for the company's tours throughout Europe, Asia and Africa.
The vehicles are all leased from and maintained by Vermaat—the largest coach company in Holland.
The tours start from London, but for the British leg of the journey coaches are hired from National Travel.
The Jonckheere bodies were chosen by Contiki as they save weight over the standard Mercedes body. Other advantages were said to be more underfloor locker space for tents and cooking equipment and more headroom inside.
Three staff and up to 45 pas. sengers can be carried on all tours.
