Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Slowing up

THERE are now 1,312 miles of motorways in Britain including 114 miles which have been opened in the past 12 months but not including the 137 miles which are still being built.

The figures, from the British Roads Federation report, "Britain's Road Progress" also show that there are 2,500 miles of dual carriageway roads in the country.

The report says that the 3,100 mile network of motorways that had been planned to be completed by the early 1980s has now been put back to around 1985—and the only road schemes not liable to delays are those involved with the Scottish oil industry and development in South Wales.

Parts grow

LEX TILLOTSON are to spend £30,000 in improving their Leyland spares service at their Halesowen centre. By the end of May they expect to have doubled their parts stocks to a minimum value of £200,000.

The satellite depot at Worcester, formerly Coventry and Jeffs Ltd, will have parts stocks of £25,000 and will be maintained at increasing levels from Halesowen. It is hoped that the stock ranges will cover every model from Sherpa to Marathon.
