THE CLOSURE of Seddon Atkinson's Atherton plant and their workshop at the Bamber Bridge plant is to begin on June 18. The company announced the plans last week.
The reorganisation of the Seddon Atkinson operations has meant that 161 planned redundancies may have to be declared with another 94 workers being offered alternative jobs.
But the company is planning to expand its Bamber Bridge vehicle spares operations and it will continue reconditioning exchange units at the plant.
Other service functions, field engineers and part of the service information departments will be transferred to the Oldham main plant.
