Mr. Anthony D. Hasemer has joined /. P. Butterfield (Engineers) Ltd. as a :clinical representative based on the 1. P. Butterfield group's London offices Africa House, Kingsway, WC2, Mr. R. H. Whiteside has been appointed chief engineer of the oil engine division of Rolls-Royce Ltd. with effect from April 5. Mr. Whiteside, who was a member of the original Whittle Jet Project team, became manager of the industrial engine division of Rolls-Royce Canada Ltd. in 1953 and held that position for nine years.
Included in the officers elected for the 1965-6 at the a.g.m. of the London Centre of the Institute of Traffic Administration last week were Mr. H. C. Grace (Grace Motor Engineering Ltd.), chairman, and Mr. J. Gibson (Shell-Mex and BP Ltd.), vice-chairman.
Mr. V. F. Frayling. has joined the board of F. Perkins Ltd. and Mr. R. F. Mead, Mr. G. E. Smith and Mr. I. Winstanley have become directors of Perkins Engines Ltd.
Mr. R. C. Dooley has been appointed in charge of the chemical and industrial engineering department of the home sales division of APV Co. Ltd. Mr. Dooley's department is concerned with road vehicles.
Mr. Dacre Wright has been appointed group transport manager with the Walpamur Paints organization at Darwen, Lancs. Mr. Wright is at present with the Haltwhistle (Northumberland) paint manufacturers, Smith and Walton Ltd., where he has been transport manager for the past 16 years. He will be succeeded by his present assistant, Mr. H. Thompson, when he takes up his new appointment next month.
At the annual general meeting of the tipping vehicle group of the Road Haulage Association last week, Mr. E Hemphill (A. and W. Hemphill Ltd., Glasgow) was elected chairman. Mr. G. A. Nichols (William Truckel Ltd., London), Mr. E. L. Williams (Williams Bros. (Queensferry) Ltd.,. Queensferry, nr. Chester) and Mr. A. E. Wincheombe (Winchcombe Transport Ltd., Ripley) were elected vicechai rmen. Mr. M. T. Smith, at present deputy. general manager of Bristol Commercial Vehicles Ltd., has been appointed general manager to succeed Mr. N. W. Hallpike on the latter's retirement on"June 30.

Mr. Matthew Anderson has been appointed general works manager at the Dereham factory of Crane Fruehauf Trailers Ltd. Previously he was with The Cincinnati Shaper Co., of East Kilbride.
Mr. R. H. Blackham has been appointed divisional director responsible for the marketing of Muir-Hill equipment and Winget truck-mounted cranes in the United Kingdom.
Mr. Brian G. Edgerton, a director of Eastbourne Motors Ltd., Ford main main dealers, has joined the company on a full-time basis.
Mr. A. B. Beaumont has been appointed an officer of London Transport Board with the title of assistant publicity officer.
Mr. L. Skinner has been appointed by Aston-Stedall Aluminium Warehouses' Ltd. as Cardiff warehouse manager. Mr. E. Neale, who has been acting there in a temporary capacity, will shortly return to the London warehouse. Mr. Skinner was for many years with the British Aluminium Co. Ltd. before joining Aston-Stedall in 1960
Obituary
WE regret to record the deaths of Mr. A. Hunter, Mr. F. A. M. Oldham and Mr. F. W. York.
Mr. Hunter was managing director of the Wishaw (Lanarkshire) firm of haulage contractors, James Hunter and Sons Ltd. He had been in failing health for some years and was 71.. His widow and one son are directors of the business and his other son is secretary.
Mr. Oldham, who had for many years been a director and the chief engineer of Hallam, Sleigh and Cheston Ltd:, died suddenly at his Warwickshire home. From the earliest days of his career he had been associated with the transport industry.
Mr. York was co-founder of York Bros, (Northampton) Ltd., coach operators, and chairman of Northampton Town Football Club. He was 68 and had been in poor health for some time.
