nEL1VERY has recently been made to I-, Cardiff Corporation' of a Guy Arab V double-deck bus fitted with an aircooled diesel engine, one of an order for 17 similar machines; Gardner 6LW diesel engines will be fitted to the remaining vehicles, -however. The new buses are fitted with 27 ft, by 8 ft. wide 65-seat bodies built to East Lancashire Coachbuilders' design by their asso'ciate company Neepsend Coachworks Ltd., Sheffield, A Ruston Paxrnan 6YDA Mk II sixcylinder diesel engine is fitted to the experimental vehicle. It has a bore of 4.375 in„ stroke of 5 in. and capacity of 7.39 litres, developing 125 b.h.p. at 2,200 r.p.m. and a -torque of 330 lb. ft. at 1,400 r.p.m. Transmission is through a Guy single plate clutch and four-speed constant-mesh gearbox, as fitted to the other 16 vehicles.

Cardiff Corporation already operates nearly 50 Guy buses, and another 37, with Gardner engines and two-pedal, semi-automatic transmission, will he delivered in the autumn.
