lorry I-1 has been developed by Charrold, Ltd., Tower House, Trinity Square, London, E.C.3, for handling loose bulk loads, such as grain and powders, under the most hygienic conditions. It is based on a Dennis six-wheeled chassis. The construction of the vehicle makes it particularly suitable for carrying foodstuffs.

The laDdy, which can be constructed of steel or aluminium alloy, has loading hatches along its top which slide horizontally sideways, thus enabling loading to be carried out from a discharge hopper with little clearance above the vehicle. A scraper conveyor, runs the length of the floor, discharging through the rear of the body, and this is hydraulically driven.

Delivery can be made either directly from the vehicle or by an external conveyor to any position within 180 degrees of the centre of the rear of the vehicle. The external conveyor can be supplied with either a hydraulic or electric motor, with mains connections if required.

Delivery rate can be closely controlled by means of adjustable shutters and by varying the engine speed. This removes the danger of clogging and enables the flow of material to be adjusted to suit the capacity of most internal conveyor systems. All controls are positioned externally at the rear of the vehicle.
