• Twenty two drivers and owner-drivers convicted of falsifying tachograph charts when carrying limestone products have escaped with warnings. North Western LA Martin Albu had considered suspending or revoking their LGV driving licences and 0-licences.
In June and August 29 drivers and owner drivers were ordered to pay fines and costs of 210,605 by Buxton Magistrates (CM 2329 June; 7-13 July; and 1824 August). For three of the ownerdrivers, John Backhouse said the offences arose after a long running dispute with ICI, the owners of the quarry at Tunstead, and the weighbridge operatives, over manning levels.
