Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Some of the existing conditions contained within the existing ADR requirements, which are outside the scope of current UK hazardous goods requirements, include: • Tool boxes, chocks and amber lights to be carried by all vehicles; • Changes in vehicle construction which differ in some ways from the current UK requirements;

• Reference temperatures with respect to the expansion of substances which are currently set at 50°C

• Loaded tanks over 7,500 litres to be filled to a minimum of 80% to guard against the possibility of rollover accidents; • Size of package or receptacle to be replaced by overall weight of dangerous goods carried on the vehicle; • Kemlar identification code to replace Hazchem marking system; • Smoking banned in the cab; • Motor vehicles, tractors and rigids over 16 tonnes and trailers over 10 tonnes to be fitted with endurance braking system (retarders);

The rules governing classification, documentation and marking for consignors were changed in April. The merits of these and other rules are the subject of much debate and lobbying as many packaged goods operators are struggling to squeeze drivers into a limited numbek. of ADR related training courses before the 1 January 1995 deadline.
