Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Belgian bus and trailer manufacturer Van Hool is adding a sliding, curtain-sided design to its standard range of TIR tilt trailers.

The move, which is being matched by other European trailer manufacturers, is in preparation for the elimination of internal frontiers within the EEC in 1992 which will see the gradual phasing out of the familiar TIR tilt trailer with its customs sealing arrangement.

It will also provide stiff opposition to the major UK body builders, which aim to take a slice of the expected increase in Continental curtainsider business.

Van Hool's first 12.6mmodel, which will debut at the Paris motor show, is a 25mwide tri-axle semi-trailer with 2.33m-high side apertures. Alternative heights are available in 30min increments.

The new trailer has 13PW air-suspended axles rated at 9.0 tonnes with a 1.31m spread. A raising and lowering facility is included and Michelin 385/65 x 22.5 tyres will be fitted as standard. The show model weighs in at around 8,000kg and a 12.2m example will be only slightly lighter.
