Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Independents have taken over several routes in the St Albans area, following the termination of contracts by London Country North East and changes to its network.

Jubilee Coaches, Stevenage, has acquired six routes, though some of these are partly worked with other operators. It now serves Hitchin, St Albans, Bricket Wood, Colney Heath, Potters Bar and Harpenden.

Flitwick-based Buffalo Travel has picked up two routes, serving Dunstable, Redbourn and St Albans. Reg's Coaches, Hertford, has gained two routes in Hertford, and LCNE has won three from Jubilee.

Both United Counties, now part of the Stagecoach empire, and Jubilee have acquired routes in the Stevenage area.
