B+I LINE claims that since it started its Holyhead/Dublin roro ferry service in 1982, freight levels have risen by 22 per cent at Holyhead.
At present B+I is dealing with 6,000 freight units annually (with a !orry and trailer making one unit) and most of this is new business to Holyhead, B + 1 says. A B+I spokesman said that the company is unable to trace the sources of most of this new traffic. Sealink, the only competitor on the route, confirmed to CM that it had kept its market share of around 23,000 freight units.
FERRYMASTERS has not cancelled its order for any Iveco vehicles (contrary to a caption in our LDoY Finals report, CM September 15) but increased its original order over the past 12 months to more than 80 units.
