Wiper blades for everyone

TRICO'S TX wiper-blade range, designed for commercial vehicles, has been completely revised to give virtually total European coverage of the cv market.

Twelve blades make up the range, in sizes from 400mm to 710mm, to cover all vehicles from light to heavy trucks, public service vehicles and coaches, and numerous specialpurpose vehicles. In most cases direct fitting is possible, but many of the blades in the range are supplied with alternative connectors to extend their application.

Cover those wheel nuts

TO COMPLY with European commercial motoring regulations, Buckinghamshirebased MTB has added a range of wheel nut covers to its Ruspacromo accessory products.

In addition to guarding protruding wheel nuts, the covers provide an attractive finish to the wheel and facilitate cleaning. Fitting is quickly accomplished by locating the brackets over two threaded bolts and replacing the wheel nuts.

Already fitted as standard by many European original equipment manufacturers, models in the range are available for any type of heavy commercial vehicle and may be supplied in matt black coated steel or polished stainless steel. If required a company name of logo may be embossed on the hub.

Watch those fuel deliveries

FLEET FUEL management has reached a new level of sophistication with the introduction of the Eric Ile master control unit by TransFlo Instruments of Maidstone. A pioneer in the field of fuel monitoring, TransFlo has developed a system which offers not only a high level of security, but also comprehensive stock control, mpg calculation and the facility to transfer data to a central computer.

The Eric Ile stock control function is triggered by a keyboard with which the supervisor can enter details of fuel deliveries. Fuel dispensed to fleet vehicles is automatically deducted from the total.

A graphic display together with a print-out of tank levels is produced on demand. "Low" and "too low" warnings are displayed automatically.

An additional advantage is that tanks cannot be completely emptied. The appropriate pump is automatically switched off when the "too low" level is reached, thus avoiding the problems of dirt and airlocks in the pipework.

Also via the master controller or pump controller keyboards, vehicle odometer readings can be entered into the system, either by the driver of by clerical staff. Entries can be made when fuel is drawn or at fixed intervals from figures taken from tachograph discs.

An easily understood LCD display at the pump can be installed in conjunction with Eri( Ile to prompt the user with a variety of commands like "Please enter odometer reading."

Mileage information can be passed on to a central computer for the preparation of comprehensive fleet analysis reports. Odometer readings can also be used in conjunction with "fuel dispensed" figures to calculate mpg. To overcome the anomalies caused when fuel is purchased away from the depot, the Eric Ile master controller will accept details of off-site refuelling without up-dating depot stock totals.

Crucial for many fleet operators is the facility to automatically transfer stored information from the master controller to the central fleet management computer for analysis. With Eric Ile, this transfer can be made either by direct link or via a modem, by disk or cassette. If required, TransFlo, can supply a complete "turnkey" package including the central computer and associated communications equipment.

The flexibility of the Eric Ile controlled system makes it suitable for the operator who requires a small, economical fuel monitoring and fleet management system in one unit. It can give mpg, cost of fuel per mile, cost per hour of operating vehicles, together with reminders of service dates, MoT renewals, filter changes and the like.

The master controller can be used in conjunction with any of the TransFlo driver/vehicle identification systems to ensure maximum security. These include the vehicle data transponder, which employs an infrared beam to transmit information from the vehicle to the fuel-pump nozzle. The VDT offers the joint advantages of simple operation and optimal security.

Better pipes from Bettaparts

BETTAPARTS has introduced a range of polymer coated brake pipes, which cover most British, European and Japanese vehicles.

The pipes are manufactured from materials that are said to exceed original equipment manufacturers' specifications. Attention has been paid to ensuring that dirt, dust and foreign matter cannot enter or contaminate the pipes.

The long pipes are coiled and packaged in multicoloured boxes. An up-to-date catalogue has been compiled, particular attention having been placed upon easy identification by way of line drawings of individual pipe layouts.
