The three posters, of which nearly 60,000 copies were distributed by the Road Haulage Association's Vehicle Security Committee as part of Hands Off Our Freight Week, were the most effective of their kind that I can remember. They told their story with urgency and splendid draughtmanship.
The reminder by Mr S. L. Whiteley, chief constable of Suffolk, that up to four-fifths of losses of goods in transit could be through internal thefts was timely. Even the most ardent practitioners of vehicle security have lost goods over the wall.
By displaying the poster directed particularly to that kind of theft, operators can remind employees tactfully that they know what goes on and are ready to deal with it.
