Thirty-six schoolgirls who made an educational tour by rail to Galway left the train in such spotless condition that CIE, the Irish state transport undertaking, offered their school a free outing in the Dublin area.
This is an idea that might be copied by British Rail. Commuters from Liverpool Street and Fenchurch Street who resist the temptation to beat up their tormentors might be offered a free Saturday afternoon excursion to Millwall.
Conversely, the Race Relations Board might sponsor a conducted tour of the Royal Mint for the most successful Arab shoplifter of the week.
