Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A NEW depot permitting a more comprehensive delivery service covering a greater area in the south and west of England was opened—officially—last week at Avonmouth by Victory Transport Ltd., Southampton-based hauliers.

Since April this year the depot—at Portview Road—has been operated by the wholly owned subsidiary Victory Transport (Bristol) Ltd. And the official opening marked the completion of a second 30,000 sq. ft. warehouse and a 10,000 sq. ft. office block: total covered area is now 70,000 sq. ft.— excluding a workshop which covers another 2,000 sq. ft.

Revealed at the opening ceremony last week was the fact that Victory has taken patent rights on a simple, robust demountable body system which will be used at Avonmouth. The Freeman system—named after its designer—is being built and marketed by Mobilcraft Ltd., Chichester. It has been incorporated into van bodies built by Locomotors Ltd., Andover. The system was specially developed for Victory's use.

The Freeman system (above) employs vehicle-mounted hydraulic rams (electrically or manually pumped) to raise the van body until telescopic legs can be extended. The mechanism does not increase loading height —and can be supplied in kit form for bodybuilders to incorporate.

Easily accessible from M4 or M5 (which runs past the 44-acre site), the new depot has a fleet of 18 lift-off-body vehicles for distribution work in Somerset, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Brecknockshire and Glamorgan.

Another 13 vehicles, mainly articulated, are used for trunk runs to all parts of the country.

Depot manager at Avonmouth is Mr. P. E. B. Hargreaves; general manager is Mr. B. Lewis: warehouse manager, Mr. G. T. Jones.

As well as its headquarters depot at Rovvnhams, Southampton, Victory has others near Winchester, at Portsmouth and a small staging depot in Stratford, London.
