by MIN SHERRIFF rE Prices and Incomes Board ants ideas, views and proposals on how to increase hauliers' productivity—from hauliers themselves or businesses using road haulage.
This is the message which the Board this week asked COMMERCIAL MOTOR to pass on to the operating industry.
As part of its remit to examine haulage rates, the PIB is investigating the scope for higher productivity.
A spokesman for the Board told me: "The road haulage industry is extremely diversified and for us to sit at the centre putting forth dogmas is not the best way to tackle the problem."
The invitation is addressed to all suppliers and users of transport and is intended to give the industry a say in its own future. If you have a contribution to make, write to: National Board for Prices and Incomes, Kings Gate House, 67/74 Victoria Street, London, SW1.
Meanwhile the PIB asks recipients of its issued-at-random questionnaires not to regard them as "just another form". This sampling is part of a wider study and the Board asks for full information and a swift return "please".
"This is a scientific study", I was told. "We cannot make bricks without straw and we hope the industry will help by advancing its views."
