Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Sarnia has implemented a major reorganisation of its wholly-owned dealerships. And two well-known names are disappearing amid an undisclosed number of redundancies. Changes include a merger of Scanlink with Northway Scania. The operation will be known as Scanlink, with its head office at Normanton, near Leeds, and will cover eastern England from Yorkshire to The Wash. Further south, Westrucks and Southway Scania are coming together, trading as Southway Scania. Based at Heathrow, it will cover central southern England from west London to Cornwall.

Tim Ward is managing director of Scanlink, while Roger McCarthy heads Southway. Scania director Frank Andrew says the moves will cut overheads because some head office functions won't be duplicated. The merc ers should also boost sales, he adds, becaus boundaries are being eliminated. Areas on th fringe of dealer territories tend to become no-man's land, he says.

Ulf Runde'', Sconia (Grec Britain) managing directoi says: "By combining our suf sidiaries in this way, we or both broadening the scope c the individual companies and sharpening th focus of our overall activities."

No sites are being closed, Frank Andre stresses. So far as Southway is concerned, th Fareham depot is being moved to a larger sit( as is the Exeter depot. Scanlink's Normanto headquarters has recently been redevelopec with the addition of an office block an extended parts and service facilities.
