• The wife of a 436 haulier who took
over the business when her hus
band became ill has been given a licence to operate in her own right. But North-Eastern Deputy TC Mark Hinchliffe was prepared to authorise only 13 vehicles and five trailers, and not the 16 vehicles and 12 trailers asked for, Lisa Hill told the Deputy TC she was now the sole director and transport manager of the new company, W i ther n se a -based CH Hill Freight—her husband having resigned at the end of June. She agreed the maintenance record of the previous operation had been deplorable, saying many problems had been caused by her husband's ill-health. He now helped out when he felt fit, she said.
Vehicle examiner Clive Allison told the
Deputy TC that when he exam ined four vehicles and thre trailers he issued immediate pm hibitions to two trailers for ; missing load-sensing valve an excessive travel OD a brake actu2 tor. The examiner's visit hal taken place only a week after sh had taken over.
