Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Hundreds of drivers at Castle Cement have voted to drop strike action but to continue their dispute through non-cooperation with new practices forced on them next month by new contracts.

The 220 drivers voted last week to lift the industrial action threat after they were told in September they would be sacked if they held a third strike.

But this week the Transport and General Workers Union said it would use other means to "pain" the company over its plans to derecognise the union and introduce new contracts from 1 November. Drivers forced to work nights by the company but who are unable to do so could go through time-consuming grievance procedures.

East Lancashire district secretary Jim Bowie said: "We'll carry on as if we're officially recognised and we'll continue to lobby the company and get national petitions going."
