• Transport companies will take part in the "green revolution" — as long as the costs are not too high, a survey about to be published reveals.
The survey, carried out for the Institute of Logistics and Distribution Management is understood to show companies are willing to undertake environmental practices, such as fuel savings which boost profitability. But measures which bring no cost improvement such as re-routeing vehicles to avoid residential areas, are proving far less popular.
About 8,000 questionnaires were sent out to ILDM members by consultants PE International and David Bellamy Associates, and the final results of the survey will be published within weeks. The ILDM is expected to make recommendations to members on preferred behaviour.
