eader Alan Turpin writes to express his twin anger at the Government's decision to decimate the coal industry and the threat that people in Sarajevo may die of cold this winter.
He suggests that if Britain's 3,000,000 unemployed stood side by side they would form a human chain long enough to simply hand over any surplus British coal to the people of Sarajevo.
This novel solution might well appeal to the miners of Frickley colliery who despatched a truck load of surplus coal to block the ornate gates of Michael Heseltine's .E.6m mansion.
