Appeal dropped NI Hull-based PMB European Transport has dropped its appeal against the refusal of North Eastern LA Fred Whalley to grant a new 12-vehicle/15-trailer licence on the grounds of repute (CM 18-24 June).
Alleged gestures ▪ Uttoxeter-based lorry driver John Mellor was alleged to have chased and made obscene gestures at a female motorist on the M6, when he appeared before Crewe magistrates. He was charged with reckless driving; causing harassment, alarm or distress; falsifying a tachograph chart and attempting to pervert the course of justice. The case was adjourned until December.
Vehicles cut • Maintenance problems and overloading convictions have led to the licence of Dundee-based Jakefreight being cut from 10 vehicles to five by Scottish Licensing Authority Keith Waterworth.
