• Perkins has won an order for Phaser engines from Chrysler in Mexico City worth $100 million over five years. The sixcylinder, six-litre turbocharged Phasers will be fitted to a range of diesel-powered eight-tonne Dodge PD600 trucks.
The first engines in the contract will be supplied by Perkins' Peterborough plant. Assembly will then be transferred to Perkins' associate company, Mopesa, in Toluca, Mexico. Perkins has been linked with Chrysler in Mexico for 25 years. CI Perkins was recently granted a temporary exemption from DOT computerised smoke testing for turbocharged Phasers.
