FREIGHTLINERS have opened a new Elm extension to their Coatbridge, Scotland, terminal. It is expected to double the .handling capacity of the depot. And to celebrate the opening on Friday, a special train was sent on its way by Scottish Secretary Mr Bruce Milan with National Freight Corporation chairman Sir Dan Pettit and Freightliners' managing director Mr Cyril Bleasdale. The new depot extensions are expected to double the capacity of the depot to around 60,000 containers a year. The extensions Include a second road to rail transfer area allowing a greater number of trains to use the depot at any one time. It also has a new maintenance workshop and a new two acre storage facility for containers.
