Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A LTHOUGH the closing down of 1-1 plants during the holiday period of August reduced the output and export of commercial vehicles, the figures under both headings exceeded those for the comparable period last year. Figures just published by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders show that the average weekly output during August was 4,184 units, the total for the month being 16,736.

Of these, 8,519 were for export and 8,217 for the home market. Goods vehicles, road haulage tractors and special types totalled 16,249, of which 8,146 were under 15 cwt. carrying capacity, 6,771 from .15 cwt. to 6 tons and 1,332 over 6 tons.

Passenger vehicles produced during the month totalled 444, of which 297 were single-deck and 141 double-deck motorbuses and six trolleybuses. Fortythree battery-electrics were built.

During the first eight months, 158,704 goods vehicles, road haulage tractors and special types were built. Of these, 86,077 were under 15 cwt. carrying capacity, 59,355 were from 15 cwt. to 6 tons and 13,272 over 6 tons.

The 5,423 passenger vehicles produced comprised 4,145 single-deck and 1,242 double-deck motorbuses and 36 trolleybuses, The total for batteryelectrics was 603.

Excluding dumpers and industrial trucks, exports during August totalled 9,457 units. Their value, including dumpers and industrial trucks, was £5,866,971. For the eight months the number of units exported was 90,968, valued at £53,119,660, to which must be added £58,155,807 for parts and accessories.
