THIS, the first of our three greatly enlarged special issues dealing with the Commercial Vehicle Exhibition which opens at Olympia on the 7th of next month, contains a vast amount of interesting information regarding many of the new models which will be exhibited for the first time, descriptions of 'these, in most instances, being exclusive to this journal. It also deals with technical tendencies and includes a large section devoted to a forecast of the accessories, components and equipment which will be seen. "
We wish to emphasize the importance of retaining this issue bald filing it with the further two which are to follow. , In this way our readers will have a most comprehensive and interesting survey, not only of the Exhibition itself, but of the industry as a whole.
There is no doubt that this number will find its way into the hand of many new readers, and to them we would point „out that during the past few weeks we have given full and wellillustrated descriptions of a very large number of other new chassis, many possessing features of unusual merit and interest. The third, or Report Issue, will, of course, contain concise details of all such products which are to be shown, in addition to a large number of informative articles from the pens of experts, many of whom are prominent' members of the transport industry. There have been some astonishing advances in chassis and body design since the Show of only two years ago, despite the fact that many of the exhibits were then considered to be approaching the "last word," and these improvements have not been confined to any particular chassis unit or section of the body, but apply to the constructions as a whole. In respect of chassis: engines, gearboxes, axles, frames and, in particular, brakes, have all obviously received most careful attention, whilst in body construction, comfort and safety are major factors which have influenced the designers. The six-wheeler, especially, has made remarkable strides, and this after a period of test which has been ample to prove its extraordinary capabilities and the facility which it affords for the transport of unusually heavy loads on pneumatic tyres.
