THIS WEEK’S TOP used truck is a 61-plate Euro-5 Daf XF105 6x2 tractor.
Listed by Daf Trucks dealer Ford & Slater, it has a 12.9-litre, Paccar MX engine with 460hp and 2,300Nm torque, and 12-speed automated ZF AS-Tronic gearbox. It has done 136,000km, and is listed at £64,950. The chassis is fitted with a 1,525-litre aluminium fuel tank, a Fontaine sliding fifth wheel and has a midsteer axle. Its Super Space Cab has a fridge and wooden dashboard veneer.
Since 2011, manufacturers have increased the number of late-year Euro-5s available to the end market for two reasons: poor sales in 2009/10, which led to a shortage in the used sector; and to provide enough alternatives to the forthcoming Euro-6s due from 1 January 2014. So far the tactic has borne fruit.
