Volvo upgrades the FH and FH 16, but warns operators to join the

queue now because of 'immense demand'. Chris Tindall reports.

:HERAT° RS KEEN to buy Volvo's new FH and FH16 should )lace their orders now to receive hem by autumn 2008.

The manufacturer warns of 'immense demand" leading to 'abnormally long delivery times", ;0 would-be customers need to ;ign up for their new vehicles at east 10 months in advance.

The upgraded models feature a -eciesigned cab interior, increased storage capacity and better lighting. The gear controls for the I-Shift and Powertronie transmissions have been moved out a little from the driver's seat to provide more space.The bunk is wider and comes with an adjustable backrest; the passenger seat swivels 90' and reclines 150.

The windscreen wipers use sensors to adjust to the amount of rain that is falling; cornering lights have been fitted to provide better visibility while turning. Volvo will not discuss prices at the moment, but Claes Nilsson, president of Volvo Trucks' Europe Division,says: We want to give our customers the opportunity to place advance orders for the product range that will become available as of next autumn."
