• More wage claims have been received by the Road Haulage Association from the unions.
South Yorkshire and Sheffield drivers have put in a claim for a 27 increase across-the-board, a £2 increase on the overnight subsistence allowance and are asking for a 'gradual progression' to a 35-hour week.
The Leeds and Bradford negotiating body wants a £7 increase on pay, £2 on subsistence and a 39-hour week. They are also asking for a substantial increase on their daily meal allowance.
Kent JIC's claim is for a £7-across the board increase, £2 on overnight subsistence and a 39 hour week. Birkenhead's claim is almost identical, but that JIC is also asking for time and a third on night work.
The East Midlands' claim is for an £8 increase on the basic rate, 21 increase on overnight subsistence and a 35 hour week.
