Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• In its first year of trading the NFC Distribution Group has boosted its overall turnover by around 40%.

Much of this growth derives from the group's acquisition of Alpine Refrigerated Deliveries last month (CM October 25), but the other companies in the group have enjoyed a buoyant year.

Star performer is SPD, which provides shared distribution facilities from 20 depots. The company has enjoyed a £7 million growth in turnover this year, fuelled by new contracts with Whitbread Take Home, Scottish and Newcastle Breweries, Pizza Hut and Esso.

Both Carrymore, the secure storage and delivery specialist, and GDS, the confectionary and small retail operator, increased turnover by 21 million this year, and SPD Contact Distribution moved £40 million of business.

David Bell, general sales manager for the group, says, "Growth has been visibly buoyant Increasingly active selling for each of our three shared distribution companies is providing a steady source of new business."

In the coming year, the group expects further expansion, especially now the ten business development managers, each responsible for a separate industry sector, have been appointed.
