• Montracon has become the second manufacturer to fit GM Liteflex composite springs to a production trailer. The lightweight tri-axle step-frame skeletal has been developed in response to a joint development project between Trailerent and Freightliner, and will be evaluated in flecz trials.
By using high tensile steel chassis rails, alloy side guards and the Liteflex springs, which are distributed in the UK by Rubery Owen-Rockwell, Montracon has kept the trailer kerb weight down to below 4,000kg.
The stepframe trailer will be used on demountable tank delivery work out of Freightliner's Trafford Park, Manchester depot.
Three trailers are currently running in the UK with Liteflex composite springs. In addition to the semi-trailers produced by Wilcox and Montracon, RO-R also has a TIP platform trailer equipped with them.
